12 Militants Killed in Balochistan After Police Station, Bank Attacks
Pakistan’s security forces killed twelve militants in Balochistan on Friday. They launched a clearance operation in the Kharan district. This action responded to major attacks from the previous day.
Militants coordinated assaults in Kharan city on Thursday. Between fifteen to twenty attackers targeted key locations. They hit the City Police Station and two bank branches. The robbers looted 3.4 million rupees from the banks.
Forces Launch Immediate Counter-Operation
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described the response. Security forces engaged the terrorists effectively. This engagement forced the armed group to retreat from the area. Forces then began a detailed clearance operation.
This follow-up operation neutralized the terrorist threat. Security personnel eliminated twelve militants in three separate fights. The forces also prevented a hostage situation at the police station. Operations to sanitize the surrounding areas continue currently.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti gave more context. He stated the attackers’ incursion lasted only five to ten minutes. The militants fled after robbing the National Bank branch. Their attack injured one civilian, Abdul Hakeem, with a neck gunshot wound.
Officials Vow Stronger Actions Ahead
Chief Minister Bugti issued a stern warning after the incident. He promised a much tougher response to any future attacks. The government will meet violence with decisive force, he emphasized.
The military statement linked the attackers to “Fitna Al Hindustan.” Pakistan uses this term for Baloch separatist groups. Authorities accuse these groups of receiving Indian backing. India’s government denies these allegations completely.
Balochistan faces persistent security challenges from separatism. Militants frequently attack state infrastructure and security forces. These latest events highlight the ongoing volatile situation. The province remains Pakistan’s largest but most troubled region.
The prompt security response aims to restore public order. It also demonstrates the state’s resolve against militancy. The government reaffirms its commitment to protecting all citizens in the province.
