Fighting Escalates in Kordofan Region
The city of el-Obeid has been described as a vital hub connecting Sudan’s capital to Darfur. The assault was seen as proof that violence continues to spread.
Fighting in Kordofan has intensified in recent weeks. Around 20,000 people were reported to have fled to el-Obeid after Bara town was captured by the RSF, 30km north of the city.
Warnings were issued by humanitarian groups about worsening conditions. Displaced families were left struggling for food, water, and medical aid.
International observers have urged both sides to allow emergency access. The Sudan drone strike funeral has been viewed as another sign of the deepening crisis affecting civilians across the region.
