Islamabad Judicial Complex Attack: Handler and Facilitator Arrested as Probe Expands

Security agencies made progress in the Islamabad Judicial Complex attack investigation on Thursday. They arrested a handler and a facilitator linked to the deadly suicide bombing.
Sources confirmed that the facilitator lived in Rawalpindi for a month before his arrest. Authorities detained him from Pindi, while the handler was captured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The suicide blast at the Islamabad District Judicial Complex killed 12 people and injured 36 others. Victims included lawyers and petitioners who were present for court hearings.

Key Arrests and Investigation Progress

Officials said the facilitator and bomber visited the Judicial Complex several times before the attack. They surveyed the area carefully. Investigators have shifted both suspects to an undisclosed location for questioning.
The arrests came a day after police caught the motorcyclist who transported the bomber to the court for a Rs200 fare. The rider, employed by an online service, dropped the attacker near G-11 Kachehri. The bomber detonated himself near a police vehicle, setting several cars on fire.
Authorities are now tracing the bomber’s route from Golra to G-11 using Safe City camera

Afghan National Behind the Attack

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry confirmed that the attacker was an Afghan national. He said the bomber neither spoke local languages nor recognized Pakistani currency.
Chaudhry added that Pakistan blames India and Afghanistan based on strong evidence. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned that Pakistan could respond with cross-border strikes if terrorism continues.
The country faces a surge in terror incidents, especially in KP and Balochistan, since 2021. Officials continue urging Kabul to prevent attacks launched from Afghan soil.
