PIA Cancels 8 Flights, Delays 18, Leaving Passengers Stranded Across Pakistan

Air travel in Pakistan faced major disruptions as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) canceled eight flights and delayed 18 others, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at airports nationwide.

The affected airports include Islamabad International Airport (ISB), Jinnah International Airport (KHI) in Karachi, and Turbat Airport (TUK), all of which are vital hubs for domestic and international traffic. Smaller provincial airports, like as Sukkur and Gilgit, have also reported cancellations and delays, adding to travelers’ aggravation.

Among the canceled flights were key connections such as Islamabad to Gilgit (PIA603), Karachi to Sukkur (PIA536), and Karachi to Turbat (PIA501), along with their return journeys. The disruptions span both Thursday and Friday schedules, making it difficult for passengers to plan ahead.

Travelers have voiced anger and confusion as the airline has yet to provide clear updates on rebooking options or compensation. Many have been forced to pay higher fares for alternative flights or switch to costly road and rail options, especially during peak travel hours. For international passengers, missed connections have further complicated itineraries.

The operational breakdown has highlighted ongoing challenges for PIA, which has struggled with scheduling reliability, financial troubles, and fleet constraints in recent years. The latest wave of cancellations underscores the uncertainty passengers face when depending on the national carrier.

With no official timeline announced for restoring normal flight operations, passengers remain in limbo. Until clearer communication and solutions are provided, PIA’s service disruptions are likely to continue fueling public dissatisfaction and eroding traveler confidence.
