Pine Nuts Price Drops to Rs 3,000 in South Waziristan Markets

Pine Nuts Price Drops to Rs 3,000 in South Waziristan Markets

Winter markets often bring a rise in dry fruit costs. However, the Pine Nuts Price has taken a surprising turn this season. In South Waziristan, pine nuts are now available for just Rs 3,000 per kilogram.
This drop comes as a pleasant surprise for many. For years, pine nuts were considered a luxury, often too expensive for middle income households. Now, their affordability has revived demand among local buyers.
Dry fruits like peanuts, apricots, dates, and figs remain winter favorites. They are packed with nutrition and provide warmth during cold months. Yet, pine nuts have always stood out as a premium choice for their taste and health benefits.

Local Markets and Crop Yield

In recent years, pine nuts have disappeared from many roadside stalls. Prices had climbed to as high as Rs 12,000 to Rs 16,000 per kilogram, pushing them out of reach for many. However, this year has brought good news for dry fruit lovers.
Shopkeepers in Wana Bazaar, South Waziristan (Lower) report a significant price decline. They say pine nuts sold for Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per kilogram last year. This year’s rates are much lower, thanks to a larger crop yield and better supply.
The improved harvest has eased market pressure and allowed local sellers to offer fairer prices. As a result, more people can now enjoy this nutritious and flavorful snack without stretching their budgets.
However, the reduced price is limited to the Wana Bazaar area. Other regions have not yet seen the same price adjustment. If supplies continue to increase, though, experts believe the trend may spread to more markets in the coming weeks.
Therefore, this season marks a turning point for both traders and consumers. Lower costs, stronger harvests, and growing demand could make pine nuts a regular feature on winter tables once again.
