Cloud Connectivity Boost as Amazon and Google Launch New Multicloud Service

A major cloud connectivity boost arrived this week as Amazon and Google launched a new multicloud networking service. The service aims to meet rising demand for stable and fast connections. It also responds to the growing risks created by even short internet disruptions.
The two companies introduced the service on Sunday. In addition, they noted that customers can now set up private, high speed links within minutes. As a result, businesses can avoid delays that often stretch into weeks.
This solution comes soon after the large Amazon Web Services outage on October 20. That incident disrupted thousands of websites and apps, including Reddit and Snapchat. Analysts estimate that the outage caused losses of up to $650 million for US companies.

A New Approach

The new service combines AWS Interconnect multicloud with Google Cloud’s Cross Cloud Interconnect. The goal is to improve network interoperability. Therefore, customers can enjoy smoother data movement between the two cloud platforms.
Both companies praised the collaboration. Robert Kennedy from AWS called the partnership a major shift in multicloud connectivity. In addition, Rob Enns from Google Cloud said the joint network will help users move data and applications more easily. Salesforce is already using the model as an early adopter.
AWS remains the world’s largest cloud provider, offering storage, computing power and digital tools to organisations and individuals. Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud follow as the next major players. However, competition continues to rise as more companies adopt cloud-based operations.
Tech giants are also investing heavily in new infrastructure. For example, Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft are expanding systems that manage increasing internet traffic. The surge comes from the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, which requires big computing capacity.
Amazon’s cloud unit reported strong growth in the third quarter. It generated $33 billion in revenue, more than double Google Cloud’s $15.16 billion. These numbers show the scale of the industry and the urgency for better cross cloud solutions.
The new partnership signals a promising direction. It may encourage more collaboration across the tech sector. In addition, it gives customers access to faster, safer and more flexible cloud connections.
