Jordan Wheat Tender Signals New Import Push
Jordan has issued a fresh international tender to buy milling wheat. The new Jordan wheat tender seeks up to 120,000 metric tons from a range of optional origins. Traders expect strong interest because the country continues to secure supplies for early 2026.
The deadline for price offers is December 9. This gives suppliers a short window to prepare bids. However, the clear schedule may help traders plan their logistics with ease.
Jordan announced this tender shortly after it made no purchase in an earlier round. That tender also aimed for 120,000 tons but did not lead to a deal. As a result, the market anticipated a quick follow up, and the new notice arrived as expected.
Shipment Windows
The tender outlines flexible shipment periods. Jordan aims to receive wheat in several 60,000 ton consignments. These shipments may arrive during one of four windows between January and February 2026.
For example, suppliers can choose delivery slots from January 1-15 or January 16-31. In addition, they can offer February dates from February 1-15 or February 16-28. This approach allows more companies to participate because they can match shipping capacity with the available dates.
Traders say the optional-origin rule also broadens participation. Countries across Europe, the Black Sea region, and other exporting hubs may submit offers. Therefore, the competition could help Jordan secure better prices and steady supplies at a time of shifting global markets.
Barley Tender Also Issued
Jordan also opened a separate tender to buy 120,000 tons of animal feed barley. This tender closes on the same day. The move shows that the country aims to build reliable stocks of both wheat and barley as demand continues to rise.
Officials have not shared further details, but the parallel tenders suggest a coordinated strategy. The government appears focused on maintaining stable inventories while giving traders clear timelines and flexible options.
