Karachi Illegal Land Trade Scandal Exposes Officials’ Involvement
A new controversy has shaken Karachi as a fresh inquiry exposes a Karachi illegal land trade network. This comes only days after authorities found a major narcotics stash at an Excise and Taxation officer’s home. Many residents now worry about growing corruption in public departments.
Officials Named in New Land Scam
The Sindh Human Settlement Department issued a public notice that revealed alarming details. It stated that police officers and Anti-Encroachment Force personnel are involved in illegal land deals across several katchi abadi. In addition, more than a dozen individuals were named for their suspected roles.
The notice followed a socio-economic survey of 36 katchi abadis. It confirmed that these settlements fall under the department’s control. The department already issued mutation orders based on NOCs. However, officials found that land grabbers, supported by corrupt officers, were selling plots, houses, and even farmhouses without legal authority. As a result, residents faced uncertainty and fear of exploitation.
The department warned all individuals involved in these activities. It pledged strict legal
action against anyone continuing these illegal transactions. The notice covered settlements in District West, District East, and District Keamari.
Impact on Communities
Settlements in District West include Al Shahbaz Goth, Allah Bakhsh Goth, Aarib Goth, Bilawal Goth, Dost Muhammad Goth, and Ghareebabad. Meanwhile, Noor Muhammad Model Town, Zakri Goth, and Allah Bakhsh Brohi Goth fall under District East. In Keamari, Kachilo Goth and Azeem Nagar were also flagged.
These areas already struggle with encroachments. The illegal activities of land grabbers and officials have made the situation worse. Therefore, the department stressed that these crimes damage public trust and weaken the rule of law.
Many residents hope for quick action. They want transparency, fair treatment, and safer communities.
