National Games Karachi Conclude with Historic Medal Triumph
Karachi hosted a proud sporting finale on Saturday with the closing of the 35th National Games. Fans celebrated teamwork, discipline, and fair play across venues. Therefore, the city ended weeks of competition on a hopeful note.
The Pakistan Army topped the medal table with a commanding performance. The team earned 353 medals, including 200 gold awards. As a result, athletes and coaches received wide appreciation.
Strong performances across teams
Wapda secured second place with consistent results throughout events. It collected 232 medals, featuring 85 gold finishes. However, close contests kept excitement high until the end.
The Pakistan Navy followed in third place after disciplined showings. Sailors claimed 110 medals with balanced gold, silver, and bronze results. In addition, their teamwork drew praise from spectators.
Host province Sindh also delivered determined efforts during the games. The squad earned 96 medals, including 11 gold achievements. For example, young athletes gained valuable national exposure.
A memorable closing ceremony
Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir attended as chief guest. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also joined the ceremony. Therefore, the event reflected unity through sport.
After medal distribution, Field Marshal Munir declared the Games officially closed. He wore black sunglasses and a traditional Sindhi ajrak. As a result, the moment blended culture with celebration.
