FM-90 Readiness Drill Highlights Naval Strength and Regional Outreach

The navy reaffirmed its combat preparedness during the FM-90 readiness drill in the North Arabian Sea. The exercise displayed sharp coordination and confident decision-making. As a result, the drill reinforced trust in modern maritime defense capability.

Missile Firing Shows Operational Readiness

A frontline naval ship fired the FM-90(N) extended-range missile during the drill. The crew successfully engaged fast and highly manoeuvrable aerial targets. Therefore, the firing confirmed the system’s accuracy and rapid response capability.
Senior leadership observed the exercise at sea. Rear Admiral Abdul Munib commended the crew for professionalism and discipline. He emphasized continuous readiness to protect maritime borders and shared sea lanes.
In addition, officials described the drill as a key test of warfighting potential. The navy used the exercise to validate sensors, command systems, and crew coordination. However, leaders stressed that defensive readiness remains the core objective.

PNS Saif Strengthens Regional Engagement

Meanwhile, PNS Saif returned home after an operational support mission to South Asia. The deployment focused on cooperation and regional goodwill. Therefore, it strengthened maritime ties with neighboring nations.
The ship visited Chattogram after more than two decades. Bangladeshi authorities welcomed the crew with warmth and respect. The visit also coincided with the arrival of the naval chief, enhancing diplomatic engagement.
Later, PNS Saif sailed to Sri Lanka for the International Fleet Review 2025. The event marked the Sri Lanka Navy’s 75th anniversary. As a result, participating navies exchanged experiences and best practices.
In addition, the ship supported humanitarian missions after severe cyclones. Its helicopter delivered food, medicine, and emergency aid. The crew also rescued stranded civilians with care and urgency.
Overall, the navy balanced combat readiness with humanitarian responsibility. These efforts promote stability, cooperation, and safety at sea.
