Peak Update 1.28.a Adds Color Blind Mode and Key Fixes

Indie sensation Peak continues to scale new heights with its September Patch 1.28.a, a carefully designed update that improves accessibility, rebalances mechanics, and fixes lingering technical issues. Released by Aggro Crab, the patch builds on the momentum of Peak, which has already sold over 10 million copies since its June launch.
The highlight of the new update is the introduction of a Color Blindness Mode, a long-requested feature from players. This setting introduces unique patterns to berries, allowing players with different types of color blindness to distinguish resources more easily. Since item collection and resource management are crucial to survival and progression, the change directly enhances both fairness and accessibility, opening the game to a broader audience.
Patch 1.28.a also tackles balance. Tornado hazards, once a major frustration, have been reworked. They now appear sooner but less often, making encounters more manageable, while the infamous “Tornado Hell” biome variant is now rarer. Nest Egg weights have been adjusted to match their contents, and backpack physics have been improved to reduce the risk of accidental losses during difficult climbs.
Bug fixes round out the update. Key problems such as the inability to unlock the Endurance Badge, tornado-related freezes, and NPC pathfinding errors have been resolved. Smaller improvements, including clearer guidebook visuals, corrected audio levels, and reduced flickering, ensure smoother gameplay overall.
While not as expansive as August’s “Mesa” update, Patch 1.28.a underscores Aggro Crab’s consistent dedication to player feedback. By blending accessibility features with gameplay refinements, Peak strengthens its reputation as one of 2025’s most player-focused indie hits.
