Kashmore Bus Abduction: Armed Attackers Snatch Passengers Near Guddu Road
Late Monday night, armed men carried out the Kashmore bus abduction near the Guddu Interchange in Sindh. The attackers stopped a passenger coach around 11:30pm. The vehicle was traveling from Sadiqabad to Quetta with families onboard.
According to transport officials, men, women, and children were present during the attack. The assailants separated travelers by force. As a result, they took 19 people toward the nearby riverine belt.
Armed attack triggers swift response
Eyewitnesses said nearly 15 armed individuals opened fire on the vehicle. They injured the driver before moving people away from the road. However, law enforcement reacted quickly after receiving alerts.
Police and Rangers launched a joint search operation soon after. For example, teams used ground patrols and air support. Therefore, they managed to recover 10 people after an exchange of fire in Sonmiani.
DIG Sukkur Faisal Abdullah Chachar confirmed the recovery. He also shared the names of several rescued individuals from Punjab and Sindh. In addition, two injured suspects were taken into custody during the clash.
Search continues in riverine belt
Authorities said thick fog slowed movement in the area. Dense sugarcane fields also have limited visibility. As a result, the operation remains challenging but active.
Two rescued people received hospital care. Meanwhile, officials are contacting families of those still missing. The transport company is assisting with coordination and updates.
No group has claimed responsibility so far. However, residents say such crimes have increased in riverine regions. Kidnapping for ransom has become a growing concern there.
Community members now urge stronger safety measures. They want better protection for travelers using these routes. Therefore, officials say they will continue operations until everyone returns safely.
