Friday Milestone Talks: UAE President Begins First Official Visit to Pakistan

United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Islamabad on Friday. The visit marks his first official state trip to Pakistan as president. Therefore, officials see Friday Milestone Talks as a key diplomatic moment for both countries.
Earlier this year, the leader met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Rahim Yar Khan. However, that meeting held informal status. This visit carries full official importance and reflects growing trust.

Focus on Bilateral and Regional Cooperation

President Al Nahyan will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for detailed discussions. Both leaders will review political, economic, and cultural relations. In addition, they will exchange views on regional and international developments.
Pakistan and the UAE maintain close and people-focused ties. For example, a large Pakistani community lives and works in the Emirates. The UAE also stands among Pakistan’s leading trade partners. Moreover, it remains a vital source of worker remittances.
Leaders plan to expand cooperation in energy, investment, and development. As a result, both sides expect progress toward long-term economic goals. Friday Milestone Talks aim to strengthen mutual growth and shared stability.

Islamabad Holiday and Future Engagement

To mark the visit, Islamabad authorities announced a local public holiday on December 26. The district administration confirmed the decision within city limits. However, hospitals, police, utilities, and civic services remain fully operational.
Earlier, both countries signed agreements on culture and consular cooperation. They also launched a joint business council to support investors. Therefore, economic engagement continues to grow steadily.
Officials describe Friday Milestone Talks as a symbol of brotherly relations. The visit highlights shared values and regional responsibility. Ultimately, both nations seek inclusive growth, stronger partnerships, and lasting cooperation.
