IBC2025, the International Broadcasting Convention, is one of the world’s leading events for media, entertainment, and technology professionals. Each year, it draws thousands of attendees to Amsterdam to explore the latest in broadcasting, streaming, content creation, and cutting-edge media solutions. This September, the event takes place at RAI Amsterdam from 12-15 September, and organizers are introducing a smart new perk for visitors: the event badge now doubles as a public transport pass.
Thanks to a partnership between RAI Amsterdam, GVB (Amsterdam’s transport operator), and CredsNow (a credentialing technology provider), every IBC2025 attendee badge will feature a unique QR code. This code gives direct access to the GVB network, allowing seamless travel on trams, buses, and metro lines across the city. There’s no longer a need for paper tickets, mobile apps, or additional travel cards.
The initiative supports both convenience and sustainability. By embedding transport access into the badge, organizers reduce the waste of single-use cards and simplify the journey for thousands of international visitors. Tamsin Christofides, IBC’s Operations Director, emphasized that the move is “more than a convenience”—it reflects a broader commitment to user-focused innovation and to making the city as accessible as possible during the show.
RAI Amsterdam’s COO, Maurits van der Sluis, also highlighted the alignment with sustainability goals, noting that the system removes barriers for attendees and encourages eco-friendly mobility. CredsNow supplies the technical infrastructure for the credential integration, while GVB ensures full network compatibility.
During IBC2025’s four-day run, any GVB-operated service can be accessed using just the badge. This innovation not only enhances the visitor experience but also underscores IBC’s role as a forward-thinking event that merges technology with practical benefits for its global audience.
