Saudi and Kuwaiti Authorities Issue Urgent Alert on Nestlé Infant Formula
Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drug Authority issued an urgent consumer warning. It concerns selected Nestlé infant formula products. These are subject to a major voluntary recall over toxin contamination concerns.
The advisory specifically covers popular brands sold in the kingdom. These include NAN, ALFAMINO, S-26 GOLD, and S-26 ULTIMA products. The recall is due to possible contamination with a harmful bacterial toxin.
Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition also issued a similar alert. It was informed by Nestlé of the same widespread recall. The action targets batches potentially contaminated with cereulide.
Potential Risk of Bacterial Toxin to Infant Health
This toxin is produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria. It may pose a significant health risk to infants. Both authorities have ordered an immediate halt to product distribution.
Nestlé confirmed this is a precautionary global recall. No related illnesses have been reported so far. Parents are strongly advised to stop using the listed products immediately.
Immediate Actions for Consumers and Suppliers
Authorities urge consumers to check batch numbers on purchased formulas. Suppliers must remove all affected products from shelves and warehouses. They must also refrain from any further distribution.
This coordinated action highlights stringent regional food safety standards. It aims to prevent any potential risk to infant health proactively.
