Avowed Lands on PS5 with Free Anniversary Update

The acclaimed action RPG from Obsidian Entertainment is coming to a new platform. Avowed PS5 release is confirmed for February 17, 2026, alongside a substantial free update. This launch brings the first-person fantasy game to PlayStation players nearly a year after its Xbox and PC debut. The accompanying Anniversary Update adds New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and expanded character customization. Consequently, it represents the definitive version of the Eora adventure.

A Major Free Update for All Platforms

The Anniversary Update is not exclusive to the PS5 version and will release simultaneously on all platforms. Key additions include a highly requested New Game Plus mode, allowing players to restart the story with their progressed character. A new Photo Mode provides tools to capture the vibrant, mysterious world of the Living Lands.
Players also gain more freedom with new character presets, an additional weapon type, and expanded options for the Godlike race. A long-requested feature now lets players change their appearance at any time during gameplay. These improvements collectively enhance replay value and player agency.

Reflecting a Shift in Industry Strategy

This multi-platform release reflects a broader trend of former exclusives reaching wider audiences more quickly. It reduces pressure on players to invest in a specific console for a single title. Pre-orders are live on the PlayStation Store, with a Standard Edition at $49.99 and a Premium Edition at $59.99.
However, the specific contents of the Premium Edition for PS5 remain unclear. This lack of detail makes it difficult for players to assess the value of the higher price point. Nonetheless, the arrival of Avowed on PS5 is a significant moment for fans of deep, choice-driven RPGs.
