Pakistan Seeks Increased Hajj Quota from Saudi Arabia for 2026 Pilgrimage
Pakistan has made a formal request to Saudi Arabia. The country seeks a larger Hajj quota for the 2026 pilgrimage. Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf announced this goal. He spoke to the media in Islamabad on Thursday. Pakistan wants to send 230,000 pilgrims next year. This number matches the country’s current population proportion. The request aims to allow more people to perform Hajj.
The government is following Saudi guidance for its 2026 plans. Saudi Arabia has currently set Pakistan’s official quota at 179,210 pilgrims. From this total, the government scheme will use about 118,000 seats. Private tour operators will manage the remaining allocations.
Expanding Services and Mandatory Training
Officials are also working to improve pilgrim travel. Over 38,000 people will use the “Route to Makkah” project from Islamabad. This facility simplifies immigration procedures before travel. Authorities now want to expand this valuable service to Lahore. Currently, it is only available in Islamabad and Karachi.
The government is conducting mandatory Hajj training nationwide. These programs teach pilgrims about important rituals. They also cover necessary administrative procedures. The first phase of this training will continue until February. Therefore, applicants should attend their scheduled sessions promptly.
High Demand and Commitment to Service
Public interest for Hajj 2026 is remarkably strong. The ministry has received over 450,000 applications already. This high number shows significant public trust in the official management system.
Minister Yousaf emphasized efficient service for all pilgrims. He personally urged Hajj organizers to provide proper facilitation. Furthermore, the minister will be present in Saudi Arabia during the pilgrimage. He plans to address any pilgrim complaints directly on the ground. This hands-on approach ensures problems get solved quickly. Ultimately, the goal is a spiritually fulfilling and smooth Hajj experience for every Pakistani citizen.
