Triple Visit Check: New GP Posters Aim to Catch Missed Diagnoses

A new NHS safety measure will appear in GP surgeries across England from next week. Called Triple Visit Check, the system encourages doctors to pause if diagnosis remains unclear. It also supports patients who feel their symptoms need another look.
The idea is simple. If someone visits a doctor three times with the same concern, staff should reassess the case. Therefore, the poster acts as a visual reminder during busy clinic days.

Why the New Rule Matters

The initiative is named after Jessica Brady, who died in 2020 at age 27. She later learned she had advanced stage four cancer. Before that moment, she contacted her GP more than 20 times.
Doctors linked her symptoms to long Covid. They also said she was too young for cancer. However, her condition continued to worsen over time.
Health leaders say the poster promotes reflection, not blame. For example, it supports second opinions and further testing. As a result, patients may receive answers sooner.
Andrea Brady, Jessica’s mother, welcomed the nationwide rollout. She said the message balances trust and self-awareness. In addition, she stressed that patients should feel confident speaking up.
The NHS plans to display the posters in every surgery. Officials believe the reminder can save lives. It also supports inclusive care for people of all ages.
Medical experts note that symptoms can overlap. Therefore, repeated concerns deserve fresh review. The approach encourages teamwork between patients and clinicians.
Overall, Triple Visit Check aims to strengthen early detection. Many families hope it prevents similar tragedies. The NHS says listening carefully remains one of its strongest tools.
