Used Phone Customs Valuation Revised in Pakistan for Samsung and Apple
Pakistan has announced a revised used phone valuation for imported mobile devices. The Federal Board of Revenue shared the update on Tuesday. As a result, import costs may change for many buyers.
The new valuation applies to popular brands like Apple and Samsung. However, it also includes Google Pixel and OnePlus devices. The update takes effect immediately across the country.
Why FBR Updated the Valuation
The Federal Board of Revenue reviewed current market trends. Therefore, it adjusted values to match global prices. The previous valuation had become outdated. Officials explained that the old rates were over 18 months old.
As a result, they no longer reflected real market demand. This change aims to ensure fair taxation for everyone.
Impact on Older and Newer Models
Older phone models now carry lower customs values. These devices have reached the end of their lifecycle. Therefore, importers may see reduced duties.
However, newer and popular models face higher valuations. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is now valued at $460. In addition, demand played a key role in pricing decisions.
Activation Rule and Key Valuations
FBR confirmed an important import condition. Every used phone must be activated for six months.
Assessing officers will verify this requirement. Several well known models appear in the updated list.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max stands at $360. Similarly, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is valued at $255. Google Pixel 9 Pro XL carries a value of $260.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus 12 stands at $184. These rates apply unless invoices show higher prices. If an invoice exceeds the set value, FBR will use it. As a result, taxes will apply to the higher amount. This ensures transparency and fair competition.
