Pakistan Joins Board Peace Gaza With Seven Nations in US-Led Initiative
Pakistan and seven Muslim-majority countries have agreed to join the Board Peace Gaza initiative announced by the United States. The move aims to support a ceasefire, humanitarian relief, and long-term stability. Leaders say the decision reflects shared responsibility and regional cooperation.
Foreign ministers from Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, and the United Arab Emirates confirmed the decision. They welcomed an invitation extended by President Donald Trump. As a result, several governments will complete legal steps to formalize membership.
Regional Support for a New Framework
The joint statement stressed cooperation to end violence and rebuild Gaza. In addition, ministers reaffirmed support for Palestinian self-determination under international law. They linked the effort to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar restated the country’s position publicly. He said Pakistan will keep working with regional partners for peace. Moreover, he emphasized dignity, rights, and justice for Palestinians.
Questions Around Structure and Authority
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed acceptance of the invitation from Washington. Officials said the framework could expand aid and speed reconstruction. However, they stressed the need for a credible political process.
Reports also say the Trump administration wants to expand the board globally. Draft documents would grant Trump broad authority as chair. For example, he could approve decisions and appoint members.
The proposed charter asks members to contribute large financial commitments. Some governments fear it could weaken existing international institutions. As a result, several countries remain cautious.
Despite concerns, Pakistan says engagement offers a chance to reduce suffering. Officials believe cooperation can support stability and peace. Ultimately, leaders hope the initiative delivers lasting progress for Gaza.
They plan to coordinate closely and review progress regularly. Therefore, Pakistan says dialogue and diplomacy must guide every step forward together for inclusive regional peace and shared security goals.
