SHIKRA Naqvi Launch Modernises Pakistan Passport System
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday led the SHIKRA Naqvi launch at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. The new system aims to modernise passport processing across Pakistan. As a result, citizens will experience faster and more transparent services.
The platform digitises passport applications from submission to final delivery. Therefore, applicants can track progress in real time. This service works both within Pakistan and abroad.
Smart Monitoring and Digital Control
SHIKRA introduces a 24/7 monitoring room and a dedicated call centre. Officials now track applications, staff output, and office crowds instantly. In addition, managers can respond quickly to delays or complaints.
The minister ordered full digitisation of the Emergency Travel Document system. Consequently, officers now monitor each stage digitally. This shift reduces paperwork and human error.
A central dashboard displays machine status and pending workloads. For example, teams can fix technical issues before services slow down. The system also improves staff accountability.
Security Standards and Advanced Technology
Minister Naqvi praised the Immigration and Passports team for adopting modern technology. He said the reforms align passport services with global standards. As a result, public trust in the system continues to grow.
He confirmed that new passport security features meet ICAO standards. Automated German printing machines now handle production. Therefore, the process runs faster with minimal human involvement.
During the visit, the minister toured the e-monitoring room and call centre. He also reviewed the forensic lab and production unit. Each facility demonstrated higher efficiency.
Senior officials attended the launch ceremony. These included leaders from the FIA and Islamabad administration. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to improved public services.
Overall, the SHIKRA Naqvi launch marks a major step toward secure and citizen-focused governance.
