AI Education Reform Launched in Punjab by Maryam Nawaz

Punjab has officially launched AI education reform to modernize education and governance. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the decision as part of a broader digital vision. As a result, artificial intelligence will now play a key role in schools and public administration.
She emphasized that technology can transform thinking and work culture. Therefore, the government plans to integrate digital tools across departments. This step reflects Punjab’s focus on innovation and inclusion.

AI Becomes Essential in Schools and Government

The Punjab government has made artificial intelligence mandatory in schools across the province. As a result, students will develop digital skills from an early age. Teachers will also receive support to adapt to modern teaching methods.
In addition, the government has launched AI training for provincial ministers. The cabinet-level workshop, titled Empowering Punjab with AI, focuses on practical applications. For example, ministers learned how to analyze policy summaries and draft official documents efficiently.
Experts explained how AI tools like Gemini can support decision-making. However, they also highlighted the importance of ethical and responsible use. This approach ensures reforms remain effective and transparent.

Google Supports Teachers, Students, and Youth

Google for Education experts briefed the chief minister on several initiatives. They announced master training programs for 3,000 teachers across Punjab. Therefore, educators can confidently use digital tools in classrooms.
The briefing also included digital IDs for over 300,000 students. In addition, 200,000 students and 2,000 teachers will receive AI training through the Punjab Education Foundation.
The program also offers 1,000 scholarships across ten organizations. These scholarships aim to promote digital journalism and youth skills. As a result, young people can access new career opportunities.
The Google delegation praised the “Year of Youth” initiative. They also appreciated Lahore’s rich culture and heritage. Overall, AI education reform marks a strong step toward a smarter and more inclusive Punjab.
