Islamabad E-Stamping System Goes Live, Ending Physical Stamp Papers

The Islamabad e-stamping system has officially replaced physical stamp papers in the federal capital. Authorities have already generated 585 digital challans under the new platform. As a result, the Federal Treasury has stopped issuing new paper-based stamps.
Officials said the move marks a major step toward transparent governance. The Islamabad e-stamping system now handles legal and financial documentation digitally. Therefore, citizens no longer need to rely on physical stamp papers for new transactions.
Authorities confirmed that older stamp papers remain valid until expiry. This decision ensures a smooth transition for people with ongoing legal or financial matters.

Digital records improve transparency and control

Officials launched the new system to reduce stamp paper fraud. The digital platform also strengthens record management. In addition, it allows departments to track issued stamps and payments in real time. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad said early adoption shows positive public response. He noted that usage will rise as more citizens shift online.
Therefore, authorities expect higher efficiency and better revenue oversight.
The system stores all records in a single database. This includes issued e-stamps, verification details, and payment history. As a result, officials can plan, monitor, and audit more effectively.

Citizens benefit from online verification

The digital platform also improves public access. Citizens can verify e-stamps through the Citizen Portal. This feature helps users confirm document authenticity without visiting offices. Officials said the system limits human involvement in processing. It also reduces manual errors and duplication risks. Therefore, the chances of fake stamp papers drop significantly.
The Islamabad e-stamping system forms part of a wider digital governance push. Authorities aim to simplify public services while improving accountability. Many residents welcome the change as faster and more reliable.
