Saddar Market Fire Controlled as Rescue Teams Complete Evacuation

A Saddar market fire broke out on Monday at the Al Najeebi electronic market in Saddar. Firefighters brought the blaze under control later in the day. Rescue teams have now started the cooling process.
Rescue 1122 received the emergency call and responded immediately. Fire brigade units, rescue teams, and an ambulance reached the site without delay. Videos showed flames erupting from the building’s parking area.
The fire spread quickly and engulfed several parked vehicles. However, emergency teams acted fast to contain the situation. As a result, the flames did not spread to nearby structures.

Rescue Efforts and Official Updates

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan confirmed that teams controlled the fire. He said cooling work was underway to prevent reignition. Teams also entered the building to search for anyone still inside.
All occupants evacuated safely during the operation. However, two people lost consciousness due to smoke inhalation. Medical teams treated them on site, and both are now out of danger.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab also shared an update on X. He said KMC fire tenders and snorkels remained present at the scene. He added that teams continued evacuations as a precaution.

Government Response and Safety Measures

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah praised firefighters and rescue workers. He congratulated them for controlling the blaze. He also stressed the need for better crowd management.
The chief minister ordered officials to ensure smooth traffic flow. He said clear roads help emergency vehicles reach faster. Earlier, he had taken immediate notice and sought a report from the Karachi commissioner.
CM Shah instructed police to prioritize saving lives. He said authorities must rescue trapped people first. Property protection, he added, comes later.
Sindh IGP Javed Alam Odho directed police and traffic officers to clear access routes. He also ordered safety checks for nearby markets. The Saddar market fire comes weeks after a deadly Gul Plaza blaze.
