Solo Travel Trends 2026: Top Destinations & Booking Insights
Solo travel is trending upward for 2026. New data reveals exciting trends for this growing market. A recent survey by FTLO trip curators shows key insights. Travelers are focusing on cultural activities, food, and affordability. However, they are booking trips much closer to their departure dates. Many dream of visiting Oceania and Asia.
Where Do Solo Travelers Want To Go?
Australia/Oceania and Asia tie as the top bucket-list regions. Europe, South America, and Africa complete the top five. For specific countries, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand lead. This is great news for the travel industry. In fact, over 42% of people plan to travel more next year. Nearly half expect to take the same number of trips.
Inspiration And Changing Plans
Travel inspiration comes from many sources. For example, 65% get ideas from friends and word of mouth. Instagram influences 63% of these travelers. Cultural activities are the main attraction for 69% of solo travelers. Food and affordability are the next most important factors. In contrast, nightlife matters to only 13%.
Most people simply want to see the world. Adventure and fun are other major motivations. Many also seek personal growth and genuine connection. These dreams are not yet firm bookings, however. Currently, more than half of travelers have not reserved any 2026 trips. Therefore, the industry must stay adaptable to capture this demand.
