Government Enforces Safety Measures

Therefore, only safer materials remain allowed during the festival. The government also made safety rods mandatory on motorcycles. These rods help protect riders from dangerous kite strings.
Lahore’s deputy commissioner formed quick response teams in every tehsil. As a result, officials can monitor celebrations and respond to emergencies faster. Police also increased security across the city. More than 10,000 officers deployed at checkpoints, rooftops, bridges, and entry points. Traffic police added around 1,300 officials to manage congestion.
During enforcement, authorities arrested 44 motorcyclists for not installing safety rods. Officials also registered cases against them. Basant celebrations will continue until Feb 8, but authorities urge citizens to stay alert and celebrate responsibly.
