Pakistan Interfaith Harmony Highlighted at Global Forums in Washington

Pakistan interfaith harmony gained strong international attention during major gatherings in Washington, DC. A Pakistani delegation shared the country’s commitment to minority inclusion and peaceful coexistence. The visit highlighted Pakistan’s role in promoting respect among all communities.

Pakistan Joins Major Global Faith Events

Senator Khalil Tahir Sandhu led the delegation alongside Shahid Rehmat of the Youth Development Foundation. They represented Pakistan at the IRF Summit 2026, the Global Faith Forum 2026, and the National Prayer Breakfast.
During these events, the delegation met policymakers, faith leaders, and human rights experts. They discussed freedom of religion or belief and ways to strengthen social cohesion. In addition, they addressed the growing challenge of hate and polarization worldwide.
The representatives also held meetings at the US State Department. They engaged with international stakeholders to explore cooperation on inclusion and community resilience.
Senator Sandhu spoke at an IRF Summit session as a featured speaker. He shared Pakistan’s progress and continued efforts toward minority rights. Meanwhile, Shahid Rehmat led a dialogue session with US civil society at Search for Common Ground.

Youth Dialogue and Future Peacebuilding Plans

Shahid Rehmat stressed the importance of youth-led initiatives in Pakistan. He said young people play a key role in building dialogue and reducing social divisions. Therefore, youth engagement remains essential for peaceful and resilient societies.
Senator Sandhu also reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to dignity and equal opportunities for every community. He noted that participation in such global forums strengthens Pakistan’s voice for interfaith understanding.
The delegation explained that these engagements support Pakistan’s positive image internationally. Moreover, they help build partnerships for sustainable peacebuilding and long-term cooperation.
Discussions included meetings with Mark Walker from the US State Department and global religious freedom experts. The delegation also met Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Ambassador Sam Brownback, Hungary’s State Secretary, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US.
These talks focused on youth empowerment, digital resilience, inclusive governance, and stronger efforts to advance minority rights. Overall, Pakistan plans to expand grassroots initiatives that encourage mutual respect and harmony.
