Uzbekistan to Add 1,000+ New Hotels and Guesthouses, Transforming Tourism by 2026
Uzbekistan is preparing for a major tourism transformation. The country plans to add over one thousand new accommodation facilities by 2026. This marks a significant step in expanding its tourism infrastructure and global appeal.
Officials revealed the ambitious targets at the VII Hotel Business Forum in Tashkent. Abrorkhuja Munovarov, from the Tourism Committee’s Investment Department, shared the details. The goal is to attract more foreign visitors while stimulating domestic travel.
The numbers are impressive. More than 1,000 new lodging facilities are already in development. This includes 136 new hotels, 528 family-run guest houses, and 298 hostels.
Once completed, Uzbekistan will have 6,921 accommodation facilities in total. Their combined capacity will reach 185,600 places. This represents a huge leap in meeting growing tourist demand.
Beyond the Ancient Cities
Uzbekistan is not resting on its historical laurels. While Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva remain crown jewels, the strategy now looks further. New regions are being developed to capture traveler interest.
Kashkadarya Region is receiving special attention for its cultural history. The Fergana Valley, with its stunning landscapes and traditional architecture, is another focus. Karakalpakstan, a less explored area, offers unique cultural experiences.
These new destinations aim to attract both international and domestic tourists. Sustainable development ensures local heritage and environment are preserved. Economic growth will flow to communities beyond the traditional tourist trail.
Government Support and Digital Innovation
The Uzbek government is backing this expansion with real incentives. Subsidies and tax benefits are available for new investors. These make it easier for hospitality businesses to thrive in a competitive market.
Digital innovation is also a priority. Enhanced online booking systems are being implemented. Digital guides and virtual tourism services will improve the visitor experience. Technology ensures travelers have easy access to information at every stage.
Domestic Tourism on the Rise
Uzbekistan is also focusing on its own citizens. The “Travel Around Uzbekistan” program is stimulating domestic travel. In 2025, residents made over 23.7 million trips across the nation.
This growth in domestic tourism builds a stronger internal market. It ensures the benefits of the tourism boom are felt nationwide. Local businesses and communities share in the economic rewards.
The vision is clear. Uzbekistan is positioning itself as a premier travel hub in Central Asia. Whether visitors seek ancient Silk Road cities or new, undiscovered regions, the country will be ready to welcome them.
