Oman Air Launches Direct Dubai-Salalah Flights for Khareef 2026 Season
Travel between Dubai and Salalah is about to get much easier. Oman Air has announced a new direct flight route connecting the two cities. Services will commence on July 3, 2026, perfectly timed for the Khareef monsoon season.
The airline will operate three weekly flights throughout the year. This initiative aims to enhance air connectivity to the Dhofar Governorate. It also expands travel options for UAE and Omani residents and international visitors.
Bookings for the new route will open on Monday, February 16, 2026. This gives travelers plenty of time to plan their Khareef getaway.
Responding to Growing Demand
The launch directly responds to increasing travel demand between Salalah and Dubai. Oman Air’s CEO, Con Korfiatis, confirmed the strategy. “With the increasing demand for flights to and from Salalah, we strive to increase our seat capacity wherever possible,” he stated.
The airline is committed to developing its domestic network. It also aims to strengthen regional air corridors across the GCC. These new flights provide flexible travel options for passengers.
They also actively contribute to tourism and economic growth in the governorate. More flights mean more visitors, and more visitors mean thriving local businesses.
Salalah’s Unique Appeal
The Khareef season transforms Salalah into a green paradise. It officially runs from June 21 to September 20 each year. During this time, the arid landscape turns lush and misty.
Millions of visitors from the UAE and other Gulf countries flock to the region. Families particularly enjoy the pleasant weather and green mountains. Many have traditionally driven, but flying now offers a convenient alternative.
Expanding Capacity and New Markets
Oman Air has been steadily increasing seat capacity to Salalah. In January 2026, available seats increased by 20 percent compared to the previous year. During autumn 2025, capacity rose by 15 percent for the peak tourist season.
The airline recently launched another significant route. It introduced the first direct charter flights between Moscow and Salalah. This targets the growing Russian tourism market.
The move is expected to bring more than 7,000 visitors to the governorate. It provides significant support to tourism companies and local businesses. Oman Air also plans further schedule enhancements, including during Ramadan, offering guests greater flexibility year-round.
