Carpet Raw Supply Crisis Threatens Export Growth
Pakistan’s carpet raw supply crisis is creating serious problems for exporters. Industry leaders say production delays now threaten timely order deliveries. As a result, exporters struggle to meet global demand. Many businesses fear losing international clients due to shipment delays.
Industry Raises Concerns in Key Meeting
Officials discussed these challenges during a meeting with Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan. Representatives from Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association
shared their concerns about material shortages.
They explained that production depends on imported intermediates. However, supply chain disruptions continue to slow manufacturing activities. Therefore, exporters now face difficulty in fulfilling international commitments. This situation may weaken Pakistan’s position in competitive global markets.
Government Promises Support
The minister confirmed that value added exports remain a top priority. He also highlighted the sector’s role in employment and income generation. In addition, the carpet industry supports women artisans across rural areas. Traditional weaving skills continue to empower local communities. Moreover, small and medium enterprises rely heavily on this trade. Any delay in production directly affects their earnings.
Need for Long Term Planning
Officials stressed the need for structured planning councils. These platforms can help improve coordination within the export ecosystem. For example, better planning may reduce supply disruptions. It can also improve delivery timelines for overseas buyers.
As a result, exporters may regain stability in global trade partnerships. Stronger institutional support could also enhance accountability.
The government assured stakeholders of prompt action. Leaders aim to strengthen manufacturing and build a more sustainable export economy.
