Rising Bone and Tissue Tumors in Karachi Hospitals

Karachi’s public hospitals are seeing a rise in musculoskeletal tumors, which include cancers of bones and soft tissues. According to Express News, Dr. Sajjad Baghiu, an orthopedic specialist at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, explained that bone tumors are more common in children. Adults, however, tend to develop tumors in muscles and connective tissues.

Rising Cases Among Children and Adults

Children often show early signs through swelling or persistent pain in bones. Adults usually notice lumps in muscles or soft tissue. Dr. Baghiu emphasized that timely diagnosis can improve outcomes. Therefore, families should stay alert for unusual changes in their children’s or their own bodies.

Warning Signs You Should Not Ignore

If swelling in a hand or leg lasts more than a month, medical attention is necessary. Night-time bone pain that does not respond to ordinary medicine is also a warning sign. In addition, fractures from minor injuries may indicate an underlying tumor. These symptoms should never be ignored, as early detection can make treatment more effective.

Taking Immediate Action

Visiting a qualified doctor promptly is crucial. Imaging tests and biopsies can identify tumors early. Treatment may include surgery, medication, or therapy depending on the type and location. As a result, early action often leads to better recovery and less complicated procedures. Families are encouraged to watch for persistent pain, lumps, or unusual swelling and act quickly.
