Pakistan Qatar Trade Talks Strengthen as Shehbaz Meets Qatari Minister
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif advanced Pakistan Qatar trade talks during his official visit to Doha. He met Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, on Tuesday. Both leaders reviewed economic cooperation and welcomed the growing partnership.
The prime minister stressed the need to increase trade volume. He also urged both sides to diversify exports, especially in agriculture, food products and value-added goods. In addition, he highlighted Pakistan’s business-friendly reforms to attract foreign investors.
Focus on Investment and Business Links
Shehbaz Sharif underlined the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in easing investment procedures. He assured the Qatari side that Pakistan offers strong opportunities across multiple sectors. Therefore, he invited Qatari investors to explore new ventures. Dr Al-Sayed reaffirmed Qatar’s interest in expanding economic cooperation. He emphasized stronger private-sector partnerships between the two countries. As a result, both sides agreed to hold a task force meeting during Ramazan to review concrete proposals.
They also discussed progress on decisions taken at the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission. Moreover, they pledged to implement all agreed steps without delay. The meeting reflected a shared resolve to deepen industrial and commercial collaboration.
Growing Strategic Partnership
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar attended the meeting. Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also joined the discussion. Their presence highlighted the importance Islamabad attaches to ties with Doha. Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on Monday for a two-day visit at the invitation of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Notably, this marks his third visit to Qatar in five months. Earlier, he visited to express solidarity and attend the Arab-Islamic summit.
The latest trip comes amid key regional developments. However, both nations continue to focus on strengthening economic diplomacy. Pakistan Qatar trade talks now aim to translate goodwill into real investment and long-term growth.
