NAVTTC Overseas Employment Programme Sends 300 Youth Abroad

More than 300 students completed NAVTTC overseas training under the Prime Minister’s Overseas Employment Programme. Officials held a visa issuance ceremony in Islamabad on Monday. The initiative aims to prepare skilled youth for jobs in international markets.
Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan attended the event as chief guest. He urged overseas employment promoters to support the programme actively. He also asked them to work closely with the government to expand global opportunities for young Pakistanis.
He described the trainees as ambassadors of Pakistan. He said their performance abroad would build trust in Pakistani manpower. “With discipline and professionalism, you will secure your future and uplift the country’s image,” he added.

Expanding Global Job Opportunities

Aamir Jan, Executive Director of NAVTTC, said the programme focuses on overseas job placement with competitive wages. He explained that this batch marks the second group sent abroad. Moreover, he said future training cycles will better match global market demand.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by Pakistani workers overseas. However, he noted that they continue to strengthen the economy through remittances. Therefore, he stressed the need for high-quality, market-driven training.

Reform, Targets and Accountability

Gulmina Bilal, Chairperson of NAVTTC, highlighted the organization’s recent transformation. She said NAVTTC now measures success by employment outcomes, not just training delivery. As a result, the institution focuses on producing “plug-and-play” skilled youth.
She urged participants to reflect Pakistan’s culture and values through their conduct. According to her, behavior abroad directly shapes future demand for Pakistani workers.
Bilal shared that the Prime Minister set a target of sending 10,000 youth abroad. So far, NAVTTC has started training for 5,000 candidates. In addition, the organization conducts regular monitoring and third-party evaluations to ensure quality.Policymakers, training officials, and graduating students attended the ceremony.
