Crimson Desert Launches March 19 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S
Developer Pearl Abyss confirms the release date for its ambitious open-world action adventure game after multiple delays. Crimson Desert release date is set for March 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Mac. The game costs $69.99 for the Standard Edition across all platforms. Deluxe Edition pricing ranges from $79.99 to $89.99 depending on physical or digital format. A Collector’s Edition priced at $279.99 is currently out of stock in the United States. Pre-ordering any edition grants the Khaled Shield as a bonus item. The game was first unveiled in late 2020 with ambitions for a 2021 launch. Consequently, significant portions of gameplay were reworked during the extended development period.
Platform Requirements and Performance Concerns
PC and Mac players must check system requirements on the Steam page carefully. Moreover, Mac users specifically need Apple silicon chips as Intel processors are not supported. Console footage concerns arose when Pearl Abyss’s PR director addressed suspicions online. For example, a September 2025 State of Play trailer claimed footage captured entirely on PS5 Pro.
The Pro model outperforms base PS5 and Xbox Series S significantly. Additionally, no official word exists about a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port currently. Therefore, the original Switch release seems entirely out of the question technically. Pearl Abyss insists they are not hiding anything regarding console performance.
Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses
The Deluxe Edition includes Kairos Plate Set, Exclaire Horst Tack Set, and Balgran Shield. Furthermore, Physical Deluxe Edition adds a Limited SteelBook, Map of Pywel, and character photo cards. Three patches and a Greymane Brooch Pin complete the physical edition contents. Similarly, the Collector’s Edition features a diorama of protagonist Kliff with a dragon.
A fabric map of Pywel replaces the paper version in the Collector’s Edition. Additionally, PlayStation 5 versions include exclusive Grotevant Plate Set digital items. Physical editions appear to have limited supply according to retailer availability. As a result, the Collector’s Edition is already sold out in US markets.
Gameplay and World Design
Crimson Desert is an action-adventure game despite Pearl Abyss’s MMO background. Third-person combat features both mounted and on-foot encounters extensively. Ranged and melee weapons allow lengthy attack combos with quick-swapping. Special skills, spells, and abilities chain together for devastating strikes.
Skill trees for Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka unlock as you progress. Moreover, the continent of Pywel divides politically into five distinct regions. Exploration emphasizes finding your own path through the game world. Consequently, reactive NPCs and unexpected interactions create immersive open-world experiences.
