Fortnite Returns After Legal Battle

Earlier, Epic removed Fortnite from Google Play. The game had introduced its own payment system. That move bypassed Google’s billing system and triggered the dispute. Now, Fortnite has returned to the U.S. store. Therefore, fans can once again download it directly from Google Play.
More Billing Freedom for Developers
Under the new policy, developers can use their own billing systems. They can also link users to their websites for purchases. This change offers more flexibility and control.
Moreover, Google will allow easier access to third-party app stores. Users can download and install these stores on Android devices more freely. The rollout will begin outside the U.S. first. Later, Google plans to expand the update to the U.S., pending court approval.

Lower Fees and Global Rollout
Google will also reduce in app service fees. This step aims to lower costs for developers. As a result, some apps may offer better pricing for users. The company will start rolling out updated fees in June in select regions. A full global rollout is expected by September 2027.
