Pakistan Rejects Taliban Claim of Capturing Military Post, Calls It Propaganda

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected a Taliban military post claim about capturing a Pakistani outpost. Officials said the allegation was false and intended to mislead the Afghan public. The ministry also stressed that no such incident had occurred.
The response came after the Afghan Ministry of Defence shared a social media post. The post claimed that Taliban forces captured a Pakistani military position and killed 14 soldiers. However, Pakistani officials quickly dismissed the statement as fabricated.
Authorities said the claim lacked credible proof. They also noted that the statement appeared designed to influence internal public opinion in Afghanistan.

Pakistan Rejects Taliban Allegations

Pakistan’s fact-checking team addressed the issue through an official social media post. The ministry stated that the Taliban military post claim was “false, fabricated, and misleading.” Officials said the narrative aimed to distract attention from ongoing issues within Afghanistan.
The ministry added that Pakistan continues to share verified updates about counterterrorism operations. According to officials, authorities release video and photographic evidence when possible. Therefore, the government aims to provide credible and timely information.
Officials also referred to the militant group Fitna al Khawarij, a term used for members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The ministry said operations against these groups continue regularly.
Authorities further claimed that Taliban-linked sources often circulate unverified reports. In addition, officials accused certain regional media networks of amplifying these claims without evidence.

Officials Respond to Propaganda Claims

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also responded to the controversy. He said the Taliban statement had “no basis or foundation.” According to him, Pakistan regularly shares verifiable evidence about damage caused to militant groups.
Meanwhile, IT Minister Shaza Fatima criticized what she called Taliban propaganda. She stated that “fake claims cannot shield terror networks.” In addition, she said Pakistan’s operations against militant groups would continue without interruption.
Prime Minister’s spokesperson for foreign media Mosharraf Zaidi also addressed the issue. He said Taliban authorities should focus on eliminating militant groups operating from Afghan territory. According to him, propaganda will not stop Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts.Security concerns have grown since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021. Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to dismantle militant sanctuaries linked to the banned TTP.Recently, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq following cross-border firing incidents. Officials also reported overnight air strikes targeting militant positions in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia.
