Pakistan Hockey Revival: Team Fights Back After Turbulent Tour

Pakistan Hockey Revival: Team Fights Back After Turbulent Tour

Pakistan hockey revival is once again in the spotlight. The team has drawn attention both on and off the field. However, the journey has not been smooth over the past 15 years.
Recently, Pakistan played in the Pro League in Australia. The results were expected but still disappointing. They lost all four matches against Germany and Australia. Both teams rank higher globally.

Challenges Off the Field

However, bigger issues surfaced after the tour. Players raised concerns about poor treatment. Captain Ammad Shakeel Butt openly criticized the management and federation.
For example, the team had no hotel booking upon arrival. Players waited for hours before finding a place to stay. In addition, they stayed in cramped rooms shared by several teammates.
The situation became more difficult during their stay. Players prepared their own meals and cleaned their spaces. As a result, frustration grew within the squad.
Previously, tours included proper arrangements. Therefore, this change shocked many players. The captain also stated the team would not work with the current management.
This reaction raised serious concerns ahead of major events. Pakistan had little time before traveling to

Egypt for World Cup qualifiers.

Despite the chaos, there was a positive outcome. Pakistan qualified for the upcoming Hockey World Cup. This marks their return after missing the last two editions.
The road remains challenging, but hope is alive. Pakistan hockey revival now depends on better management and consistent support.
