Police Find “No Evidence” of Family Voting in Gorton By-Election, Farage Hits Back

Police have found “no evidence” of family voting at the Gorton and Denton by-election. Greater Manchester Police investigated after Reform UK leader Nigel Farage reported allegations. The illegal practice involves influencing someone’s vote, such as entering the polling booth with them.
GMP said there was “no evidence to suggest any intent to influence or refrain a person from voting as stated in the Ballot Secrecy Act 2023.” Therefore, this Gorton by-election family voting probe has been closed.

Farage Responds

Nigel Farage called the decision an “establishment whitewash.” He hit out at GMP for closing the investigation. “This isn’t good enough,” he said. “We need proper oversight, real accountability and the courage to admit when something isn’t right.”

Background

The by-election took place on 26 February. Green Party MP Hannah Spencer won the Labour stronghold seat. Farage cited reports by independent election observers Democracy Volunteers. They noted “extremely high” levels of family voting.
The police investigation is now concluded. Political debate over electoral integrity continues.
