TTW Unveils Top 20 Safest Travel Destinations in Americas and Caribbean for 2026

Travel And Tour World (TTW) has unveiled its 2026 Safety Index. The report ranks the 20 safest destinations across the Americas and Caribbean. The evaluation considers geopolitical stability, crime levels, and emergency preparedness. The Western Hemisphere now stands as a key “safe travel corridor” for global tourists.
Strong governance and rule of law define this region. Many destinations maintain Level 1 advisory status. This reflects low risk for travelers. Geographic insulation from global conflicts is another advantage.
Institutional stability in countries like Canada, Uruguay, and Chile adds to the security. Increased investment in tourism security also plays a key role.

The Top 10 Safest Destinations

Canada takes the top spot as the safest destination globally. It offers strong governance, advanced infrastructure, and very low crime rates. Major cities like Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal welcome visitors with confidence.
The United States secures the second position. Major tourist areas benefit from effective law enforcement. New York, Los Angeles, and Miami remain well-secured hubs.
The Dominican Republic ranks third. Its resort zones feature visible security and stable conditions. Punta Cana and Santo Domingo are key gateways.
The Bahamas follows in fourth place. Resort areas enjoy low crime levels and political stability. Nassau and Paradise Island attract many visitors.
Argentina takes fifth place. The country offers diverse landscapes with established tourism infrastructure. Buenos Aires and Iguazú Falls are top draws.
Uruguay secures sixth position. It is known for its peaceful environment and low crime rates. Montevideo and Punta del Este are popular coastal destinations.
Panama ranks seventh. Key areas remain generally safe with developed tourism infrastructure. Panama City and Bocas del Toro are highlights.
Barbados takes eighth place. The Caribbean island boasts very low crime rates and strong stability. Bridgetown and Crane Beach are must-visit spots.
Costa Rica ranks ninth. The eco-tourism leader offers reliable infrastructure and low crime in tourist areas. San José and Arenal draw nature lovers.
Chile completes the top ten. The country features modern infrastructure and generally low crime rates. Santiago and the Atacama Desert are major attractions.

Other Notable Destinations

Mexico ranks 11th with well-secured tourist zones. Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Mexico City remain popular. Brazil follows at 12th with dedicated tourist policing in key areas. Rio de Janeiro and Iguazú Falls welcome many visitors.
Peru ranks 13th with secure key tourist regions. Cusco and Machu Picchu remain top attractions. Aruba, the Cayman Islands, and Bermuda rank next. These Caribbean destinations offer very low crime and premium experiences.
Guyana, Suriname, and Greenland round out the list. These emerging destinations offer unique experiences with growing security infrastructure.

The Americas and Caribbean Lead

The Western Hemisphere’s safety record reflects structural advantages. Diplomatic neutrality prevails across the region. Most nations maintain neutral stances in global competitions. Economic integration through agreements like USMCA reduces crime. Cross-border security cooperation is also improving.
Tourism security specialization drives safety in Caribbean nations. Dedicated tourist police and rapid-response medical capabilities are now standard. These nations recognize that visitor safety directly correlates with economic survival.
The 2026 Safety Index uses a multi-source methodology. It evaluates societal safety, crime rates, medical facilities, and emergency response. Natural hazard preparedness and tourism security measures are also factored in. Travelers can now explore this region with greater confidence than ever.
