Online Job Scam Pakistan: Youth Trapped by Fake Overseas Offers

Online Job Scam Pakistan: Youth Trapped by Fake Overseas Offers

Many individuals trust these scam ads without proper checks. As a result, they fall into risky and exploitative situations abroad. Social media platforms play a major role in spreading these scams and attracting victims.

Tactics Scammers Use to Trap Youth

Scammers create attractive ads that promise high-paying jobs and free travel. For example, they offer free visas, tickets, and accommodation to gain trust. However, these offers often hide serious risks and false promises. Many young people believe these deals and skip important background checks.
In addition, scammers mostly target educated youth aged 22 to 30. Most victims are unmarried and searching for better opportunities abroad. Therefore, they become easy targets for fraud networks and illegal recruiters. These scams may look modern, yet they reflect older forms of exploitation.

From Beggar Camps to Digital Traps

In the past, beggar camps forced people into labour through coercion and isolation. Today, scammers use digital tools instead of physical force. However, the result remains the same for many victims. They lose freedom and face harsh conditions in foreign countries.
Officials from the Federal Investigation Agency have raised serious concerns about this trend. According to FIA Deputy Director Shehzad Akbar, migration patterns have changed in recent years. Earlier, low-income individuals used illegal routes to travel abroad. Now, educated youth also fall into these traps while seeking financial growth.
Scammers often send victims on visit visas instead of work visas. As a result, they become illegal residents after arrival. In many cases, agents also confiscate passports and limit movement. Therefore, awareness and careful verification can help prevent these dangerous situations.
