Virgin Atlantic to Resume Pakistan Flights in OctoberUK Carrier Restores Services to Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore

Virgin Atlantic Airways has confirmed plans to resume flight operations to Pakistan later this year, reestablishing air connectivity between the United Kingdom and major Pakistani cities after nearly two years. Aviation sources revealed that the airline has secured clearance from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to operate services to Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore beginning in October. The new route structure will see flights operated via Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, allowing passengers to connect with Virgin Atlantic’s global network while providing greater flexibility for travel between South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The resumption is expected to offer Pakistani passengers more options for long-haul travel, particularly for those commuting to London and onward destinations in North America. Industry experts view the move as a significant boost to Pakistan’s aviation sector, strengthening bilateral ties with the UK while creating fresh opportunities for business and leisure travelers alike.
Virgin Atlantic had previously suspended its services to Pakistan in 2023, citing a review of its global network strategy as the reason for withdrawal. At the time, flights between London Heathrow and both Lahore and Islamabad were discontinued, leaving passengers reliant on other international carriers. With the revival of operations in October, the airline will once again provide premium travel services, supported by its extensive transatlantic and European connections. Founded in 1984, Virgin Atlantic is headquartered in Crawley, West Sussex, and is jointly owned by Virgin Group (51%) and Delta Air Lines (49%). Since its inaugural flight from London–Gatwick to Newark on June 22, 1984, the carrier has evolved into a leading global airline, known for its customer-centric approach and innovative in-flight experiences. The decision to return to Pakistan underscores its long-term commitment to South Asia and its importance within the airline’s future growth strategy.
