Gunman Killed Near Israeli Consulate in Istanbul
A gunman was killed near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. Two other attackers were injured in the shootout. Two police officers also suffered minor wounds. Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci confirmed the details.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted strongly. He called the incident a “heinous act of terror”. He also promised to protect Turkey’s climate of trust.
Details About the Attackers
The attackers came to Istanbul from the city of Izmit. They used a rental car. Two of them were brothers, the minister said. The interior ministry named the killed gunman as Yunus E.S. Officials say he was connected to “the terrorist organisation that exploits religion”. This is understood to mean the Islamic State group.However, no group has claimed responsibility so far.
Confusion Over Casualties
Police initially reported two attackers dead. Later, local governor Davut Gul clarified the numbers. Only one gunman was killed. The two injured attackers are Onur Ç and Enes Ç. The interior ministry confirmed they are brothers.
The investigation is ongoing.
