Sindh School Transport Fare Ban: Govt Blocks Fee Increase

Sindh School Transport Fare Ban: Govt Blocks Fee Increase

The government has enforced the Sindh school transport fare ban to protect parents from rising costs. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah issued the directive on Monday. He stressed that families should not face extra financial pressure.

Ban on Fare Increase and Compliance

The Sindh School Education Department quickly issued a circular to all schools. It ordered both public and private institutions to follow the rule. Authorities banned any increase in pick-and-drop charges.
This rule applies to school transport and private vans hired by parents. Operators must keep fares unchanged despite rising fuel prices. Therefore, the government aims to ease financial stress on families.
Officials also directed schools to share transport details. They must submit complete data about vans and services. In addition, authorities warned of strict legal action for violations.

Relief Measures and Subsidy Plan

The chief minister assured support for transport operators. He said the government will help reduce their burden. As a result, officials plan to balance costs without affecting parents.
Murad Ali Shah also announced a Rs2,000 petrol subsidy. This support targets registered motorcycle owners across Sindh. The government will transfer funds after verification through the excise system.
He urged citizens to transfer vehicle ownership to their names. The government has made this process free of cost. In addition, excise offices will stay open daily with extended hours.
Meanwhile, the government continues talks on market closing times. Officials have consulted traders on the proposed 8pm closure. Therefore, Sindh will finalize its decision after further coordination. Overall, the policy focuses on public relief. However, strict enforcement will determine its success.
