Mango and Avocado Together Boost Heart Health, Study Finds

Nearly 98 million Americans have prediab etes. Their food choices shape long-term heart health. But a new study offers an easy fix.Researchers at the Illinois Institute of Technology made a surprising discovery. Pairing avocado with mango helps blood vessels work better. In addition, it lowers diastolic blood pressure.

What the Study Did

Scientists asked adults with prediabetes to follow a special diet. For eight weeks, they ate one avocado and one cup of mango daily. A control group ate other carb-rich foods instead. The results were clear. The fruit group showed major improvements. Their blood vessel function rose to 6.7%. Meanwhile, the control group’s function dropped to 4.6%.

Real Benefits Without Big Changes

Men on the fruit diet saw lower blood pressure. The control group’s pressure went up by 5 mmHg. However, the mango-avocado group’s pressure dropped by about 1.9 mmHg. These changes happened without cutting calories or losing weight. Therefore, small additions work better than strict rules. “Food-first strategies can reduce heart disease risk,” says lead researcher Dr. Britt Burton-Freeman. “Especially for vulnerable groups like those with prediabetes.”

Why This Combo Works

Mango offers fiber and vitamin C. Avocado provides healthy fats and potassium. Together, they support blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure. No major diet overhaul is needed. Just add these two fruits daily. Your heart may thank you later.
