Saudi Arabia’s Makkah Route Initiative Transforms Hajj Travel

Saudi Arabia is transforming the Hajj journey. The Makkah Route initiative uses modern technology and artificial intelligence. Therefore, pilgrims experience faster and smoother travel.
Minister of Transport Saleh Al-Jasser welcomed the first flights. They arrived from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkiye, and Afghanistan. He inspected procedures at dedicated terminals in Jeddah and Madinah.

How the Makkah Route Initiative Works

Pilgrims complete all procedures in their home countries. This includes biometric data collection and health verification. Hajj visas are issued electronically before departure.
Baggage is tagged and sorted at origin airports. It then follows transportation arrangements within the Kingdom. Consequently, pilgrims avoid long queues upon arrival.

Seamless Arrival and Direct Transport

Upon landing, pilgrims take dedicated routes to their accommodations. Partner entities handle baggage delivery directly. Therefore, travelers can focus on their spiritual duties.
The General Directorate of Passports deploys advanced technology. Multilingual staff operate at all air, land, and sea ports. As a result, entry procedures are smooth and efficient.

Participating Countries in 2026

The initiative now serves ten countries. They include Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Turkiye. Cote d’Ivoire, the Maldives, Senegal, and Brunei Darussalam also participate.
Senegal and Brunei Darussalam join for the first time. This creates a truly global pilgrimage network. Therefore, more pilgrims than ever benefit from streamlined services.

Ministry of Tourism Welcomes Pilgrims

The Ministry of Tourism organized reception events in Makkah and Madinah. These events reflect genuine Saudi hospitality. They also contribute to an efficient arrival experience.
Inspection teams will monitor service quality. They will also address any violations. Pilgrims can contact the Unified Tourism Center (930) for inquiries or complaints.

A Blueprint for Global Travel Events

This initiative sets a new benchmark for pilgrimage logistics. It combines air travel facilitation with seamless in-country procedures. Large-scale international travel events can learn from this model.
Saudi Arabia strengthens its reputation as a world-class destination. Innovation, hospitality, and seamless experiences define every step. In conclusion, the Makkah Route initiative transforms Hajj into a spiritually focused, hassle-free journey.
