Pakistan Astronauts China Space Mission Marks Historic First

Pakistan has taken a major step with the Pakistan astronauts China mission announcement. Two candidates will join China’s human spaceflight program for training. This move highlights the country’s growing ambitions in space exploration.

Training for Historic Space Mission

Officials selected Muhammad Zeeshan Ali and Khurram Daud for the program. They will soon travel to China for advanced training. The training will take place at the Astronaut Centre of China.
One candidate may fly as a payload specialist in the future. As a result, that person could become the first foreign astronaut on China’s space station. This mission is expected to take place in late 2026.
The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission confirmed the development. It called the step a milestone in Pakistan’s space journey. Therefore, the country now joins a small group involved in human spaceflight.

Scientific Research and Global Cooperation

During the mission, the astronaut will conduct experiments in microgravity. These studies will focus on material science, fluid physics, and life sciences. In addition, research will cover biotechnology and other advanced fields.
Experts believe these experiments could support climate resilience and food security. They may also boost industrial innovation in the long term. As a result, the mission could benefit both science and society.
The initiative follows a cooperation agreement with the China Manned Space Agency signed in February 2025. Under this deal, two Pakistani candidates received training opportunities.
Moreover, the program reflects China’s wider effort to expand global partnerships in space. This collaboration strengthens ties and opens new opportunities for future missions.
