Beijing Sees Surging Cross-Border Travel in 2026
Beijing has recorded over 7 million border crossings in 2026. That is a 13% increase compared to last year. Therefore, cross-border travel is surging. Foreign nationals made more than 2.28 million exits and entries. This marks a 34% rise from the same period in 2025. Consequently, international interest in Beijing is growing.

About 828,000 foreign arrivals entered under visa-free or temporary entry permit policies. These arrivals account for over 70% of all foreign entrants. Therefore, visa-free access is a key driver. China has introduced unilateral visa-free policies for 50 countries. It also implemented 240-hour transit visa-free arrangements for 55 countries. As a result, travel to Beijing becomes much easier.
