Spokesperson to the Government of Sindh, Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani, has commended the Sindh Police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) for their ongoing operations against dacoits and criminal gangs in Northern Sindh. He stated that these coordinated efforts are proving effective, with several suspects and active members of dacoit groups arrested in District Ghotki. Alongside arrests, Sindh Police have also seized ammunition and strengthened measures to block the smuggling of arms to katcha dacoits, curbing their ability to regroup. According to the Spokesperson, the vigilance and timely action of the police have foiled multiple kidnapping and robbery attempts in recent weeks, including one reported on the M-5 Motorway. Hemnani highlighted that such successes are restoring confidence among citizens, who can see the government’s resolve in dismantling entrenched criminal networks. He added that the Sindh Government will continue supporting LEAs in their mission to secure lasting peace.
Reflecting on earlier successes, Hemnani noted that in the past two years, Sindh Police, through intelligence-based operations, saved more than 950 citizens from falling victim to honey-trap schemes. During the same period, 616 dacoits were arrested and 103 killed in encounters, while 35 police officials embraced martyrdom in the line of duty. He stressed that these sacrifices highlight the bravery and dedication of the police force in protecting the people of Sindh. The Spokesperson also revealed that the Sindh Government has placed orders for modern weapons and advanced vehicles, which will soon be handed over to the police to enhance operational capacity. These tools, he explained, will allow law enforcement agencies to operate more efficiently, especially in remote and difficult terrains where dacoits are known to hide. Hemnani reaffirmed that the provincial government remains firmly committed to safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens across Sindh.
