Green Property Certificate Punjab: Digital Land System Launches in Rawalpindi

Preparations are complete to launch the Green Property Certificate Punjab system at the Rawalpindi Land Record Centre next week. Authorities plan to modernize how people buy and sell land. As a result, this step marks a major shift from the old manual process.

A Shift to Digital Land Records

The Punjab Land Record Authority and Board of Revenue will roll out the new system. It will replace a 485-year-old manual process that began in 1540. Therefore, citizens will experience faster and more transparent services.
Officials say people can use their existing documents to get the certificate. In addition, the system will reduce paperwork and long waiting times. It will also make property records more secure and easy to verify.

New Rules for Buying and Selling Property

From July 1, 2026, authorities will require this certificate for all property transactions. This rule will apply to residential, commercial, and agricultural land. However, without the certificate, buyers and sellers cannot complete any deal.
The government will also end the traditional “Fard” system. As a result, people will depend fully on digital records. This change will help reduce fraud and errors in land ownership data.
For example, users will access records through digital platforms with ease. In addition, the process will save time for both buyers and sellers. Authorities believe this reform will increase trust in the real estate sector.
Overall, the launch signals a new era for land management in Punjab. It focuses on efficiency, transparency, and ease of access for everyone.
