Greek Authorities Disarm Ukrainian Naval Drone Found in Ionian Sea
Greek authorities have rendered safe a naval drone carrying explosives.
A Dangerous Discovery
Fishermen discovered the unmanned vessel in the Ionian Sea. The drone was found in a cave near Lefkada on Thursday. Its engine was still running.Greek bomb disposal experts removed its detonators and battery. The drone was estimated to be carrying around 100kg of explosives. Authorities later conducted a controlled explosion in the sea near Astakos.

The incident has raised questions about Greece’s maritime security. It also highlights vulnerability to emerging military technology. Authorities are now investigating how the drone ended up in Greek waters.
